The female reproductive system and its function are maintained by the body's delicate balance of hormones. Aside from interfering with lovemaking, vaginal dryness is not serious unless it is accompanied by other symptoms. Symptoms:
Decrease in or lack of normal vaginal secretion, causing pain or discomfort during intercourse, experts recommend the following home care ideas;
- If you are going through or have gone through menopause, ask your doctor about hormone replacement therapy
- Avoid non-lubricated intercourse. This can cause vaginal irritation or abrasion
- Use a non-irritating lubricant during intercourse
- If you use condoms during intercourse, buy the lubricated variety
- Avoid using any petroleum-based lubricant with any condom or diaphragm; use water-based lubricants instead.
- Vaginal itching or redness accompanies vaginal dryness
- You experience any abnormal vaginal discharge or bleeding
- You notice any blisters, lesions or changes in vaginal skin texture
